Check-in and check-out for a rental in Paris 14th

For a guest, arrival starts well before the door of the flat. They come out of RER B at Denfert-Rochereau, off a TGV at Gare Montparnasse or off the T3a tram at Porte de Vanves, look for the right street, then face a door code, an intercom, a courtyard and sometimes a second code before the stairs. Every step that is badly explained turns into a call or a worried message. Our job is to make that route simple.

An arrival explained step by step

Before the stay, the guest receives a clear message: address, nearest station, code for the carriage door, building, staircase, floor, door. We add photos of the entrance when the building is hard to spot, which often happens in the private lanes and courtyards of the 14th.

  • Key handover in person, for a first stay or a tricky arrival
  • Key box or keypad lock, when the building’s rules allow it
  • Late arrivals handled after an evening train or flight
  • A reminder of the building’s rules: noise, bin room, shared areas

Buildings with a caretaker

In many buildings in the arrondissement, a caretaker keeps an eye on the entrance. We let them know when that is the custom, follow their instructions and make sure suitcases do not clutter the hall. A building that sees discreet, well-organised arrivals is more willing to accept short-term letting.

Check-out day

On departure, the guest knows where to leave the keys and what time to go. The team walks round the flat, checks nothing is missing and starts the cleaning. Any damage found is photographed straight away. For guests leaving early for a train at Montparnasse, we agree a key drop in advance so they do not have to wait.

Guests’ questions during the stay are handled by our guest care service, and the digital welcome book holds the codes and instructions. For routes from the airports, see our article on getting to the 14th.

Frequently asked questions

Can a key box be fitted in my building?

It depends on the building’s rules and the managing agent’s view. If it is not possible, we offer a handover in person or a keypad lock on the flat’s own door.

What happens if a guest arrives late in the evening?

We agree the arrival time and the key handover with them. The instructions are sent before they set off, so they do not have to wait outside the building.

Should the caretaker be told about every arrival?

Not necessarily. We follow the custom of the building: some caretakers want to be told, others do not. Either way, we follow their instructions.
